Hatchie's "Only One Laughing" Carries a Feeling of Liberation

Hatchie's "Only One Laughing" Carries a Feeling of Liberation

It's fueled by the purity of her earlier creations...

Hatchie makes her return with the new track ‘Only One Laughing’.

The artist, whose real name is Harriette Pilbeam, seeks to revisit the melodic essence of her past work with her upcoming album ‘Liquorice’, set to be released on November 7th.

Produced by Melina Duterte (known as Jay Som) in her home studio, the straightforward setup allowed Hatchie’s dream pop style to truly stand out.

Consider the enchanting new track ‘Only One Laughing’. Featuring Stella Mozgawa (of Warpaint and Courtney Barnett) on drums, the minimalist arrangement complements the song, which radiates with its own vibrancy.

A release of relief, ‘Only One Laughing’ strives to rise above the bleakness of our current global situation, feeling like a fresh indie pop breath.

Hatchie explains: “I penned ‘Only One Laughing’ to express my frustrations with the state of the world and the situation I found myself in during early 2023. I wanted an upbeat song that felt like a fast-paced rant about the lack of control I felt over my life.”

The music video, filmed at Melbourne’s iconic Luna Park, is now available.
