"I enjoy immersing myself in the songs of others..."

Anna Calvi and Perfume Genius have joined forces for a new rendition of Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy’s track ‘I See A Darkness’.

The Mercury-nominated guitarist is embarking on a new creative phase, with a headline performance scheduled at London’s EartH on November 1st.

In addition, Anna Calvi has commenced a Substack titled – Carving Silver In Strange Weather – which will serve as a platform for her reflections.

Her most recent release is intriguing – a collaboration with esteemed American artist Perfume Genius, tackling Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy’s ‘I See A Darkness’.

The song explores the significant connections in our lives, and in their interpretation, it transforms into a rejection of heteronormative society, embracing the concept of chosen family.

“So many songs focus on romantic love,” Anna Calvi shares. “But I aimed to shine a light on the romance of chosen family and the profound connections that aren’t bound by heteronormative constructs. It’s a powerful song about the desire for intimacy. I love inhabiting other people's songs. When I sing someone else’s words, I feel like I get closer to myself in some way, because the songs I select express something I struggle to articulate.”

Directed by Alexander Brown, the new video poignantly captures the intimacy of friendship.
