Villanelle Makes a Comeback with ‘Measly Means’

In advance of their sold-out UK tour...

London indie up-and-comers Villanelle have released their latest single, ‘Measly Means.’

The band, comprised of three friends—Gene Gallager, Ben Taylor, and Jack Schiavo—made their official debut earlier this year. Quickly becoming a sought-after act in London, the trio is set to bring their sound nationwide this December with a sold-out UK tour.

Their performance at London’s Lexington on December 15th is likely to be the last chance to see them in such an intimate setting.

A full EP is on the way, with the gritty new single ‘Measly Means’ evoking comparisons to Placebo and Smashing Pumpkins while remaining rooted in the UK indie tradition.

      The band shares…

“‘Measly Means’ took us quite some time to perfect. Initially, it felt too light and sentimental, but once Ben introduced the bends and sustains reminiscent of Smashing Pumpkins, I knew that was it. Similar to ‘Hinge,’ I wrote the lyrics when I was about fourteen. It’s about experiencing a hangover, which seems to be a recurring theme.”
