The snow is falling
The season’s calling
It’s calling
I bet it’s cozy
At your apartment
So warm
You know I’m tiny
Fit in your stocking
I fit right in
Is that ‘Love Actually’
That you’re watching?
– “wishlist,” flowerovlove

The most wonderful time of year has arrived once more, and we’re eager to kick off the celebrations with a fresh assortment of holiday tracks and winter delights! This year's holiday season is characterized by a profound sense of appreciation, hope, excitement, and yearning: Many of our 2025 Mistletones selections encapsulate what we might refer to as that "classic" holiday joy – invoking feelings of togetherness, connection, and love – while just as many adopt a more nostalgic or wistful tone, filled with feelings of sorrow, loss, and loneliness that often accompany this time of year.
“Sitting by the fire, snow is getting higher, lights a little brighter, everybody’s home,” Tiera Kennedy sings in “Christmas Feeling,” capturing the essence of the holiday spirit and all the joy it brings. “And I can hear the choir, streetlights all aglow. There’s some kind of magic in the air.”
Whether we’re soaking in the nostalgic aura of Delacey and Maren Morris’s sultry “Christmas Angel,” enjoying the sweet harmonies of Teenage Dad’s “Alone Again for Christmas,” daydreaming with flowerovlove’s “wishlist,” diving into Lauren Spencer Smith’s young-adult love tale “Last First Christmas,” or rocking out to BERENICE’s playful and vibrant “SANTA BROKE MY HEART IN 2,” this year’s Mistletones embody the spirit of this wonderful season – igniting a passion within us through captivating soundscapes and heartwarming reflections on life, joy, and the ones we cherish most.
I won’t waste another second
Waiting by the tree
Don’t want your falala presents
Heard that you’ve been sliding down
Every chimney in this town
Go on find another lover
I won’t spend the night crying under covers
You can wrap your lies up real tight
Santa broke my heart in two
– “SANTA BROKE MY HEART IN 2,” BERENICE
We hope these tracks inspire a sense of community and connection, love and unity for all listeners. With so many outstanding submissions for this year’s Mistletones, we’ve decided to feature them across multiple highlights. I won’t ask for much this year
Just someone who won’t say
I love you just to disappear
I can’t handle all the games
Just give me someone with a pulse
who texts back during the day
I’m tired of situationships
that never say goodbye
So Santa, could you
take me back in time?
– “old fashioned christmas,” Lyn Lapid

Atwood Magazine: How do you connect with the holidays and the holiday season? What are some holiday songs you cherish?
Delacey: I want to start by sending tons of love and empathy to those who find the holiday season difficult. I understand that, for many, this time of year can be painful for various reasons, and not everyone feels the magic of Christmas. Your emotions are completely valid. My own holiday experiences carry some sorrow as well. During much of my childhood, my dad battled cancer. Although he is now in remission and healthy, there were many years filled with the fear of losing him. My dad adores Christmas—truly, with all his heart. Some of my fondest childhood memories are tied to that
Max B has unveiled his latest mixtape, 'Public Domain 7: The Purge'. This new project marks the rapper's first release following his time in prison, where he served a 16-year sentence.
Nick Carpenter of Medium Build reflects on a pivotal 2025, describing it as both a breakthrough and a downfall—a “violent upheaval of self” where sobriety, mania, burnout, touring, and survival intersected with intensity. He discusses the clash between public success and personal ramifications, revealing how he managed to slow down the machine while still holding onto his aspirations, prioritizing authenticity over performance. This experience inspired him to create a poignant collection of songs, including a darker new album he mentions is on the horizon.
