Rejoice! The music world’s newest dynamic duo, Julien Baker and TORRES, have announced their collaboration on a full joint album, following the release of their single ‘Sugar In The Tank’ last month. Titled ‘Send A Prayer My Way,’ the new LP is set to be released on April 18th through Matador and is a long-anticipated project. Back in 2016, when the boygenius member and multi-talented artist performed together for the first time, they remarked, “You know, we should make a country album.” It turns out that is precisely what they have accomplished. The new track ‘Sylvia’ - the second release from the album - is another harmonious Americana piece, inspired by TORRES’ cherished namesake pet. Sharing her story behind the song, she explained: “The morning I went to pick up my dog Sylvia from a shelter upstate, I was home making coffee and tuned into WFMU, where Dolly Parton’s ‘Cracker Jack’ was playing. I started to cry—it felt as though the universe was telling me she was meant to be mine (Sylvia was originally intended to be a foster). I thought about how much I’d love to write a song like that, one that people could feel in their hearts within five seconds of turning on the radio, because anyone who's had the privilege of sharing their home with a beloved pet knows they are family - they’re the best friends you could ever have.” Check it out here:
