Montreal artist Helena Deland has unveiled an EP featuring previously unreleased material.
The versatile musician made her debut with an album in 2017, but the intense recording sessions resulted in a variety of unrelated ideas, some of which were complete songs. Rather than discarding these creations, Helena Deland initiated ‘Altogether Unaccompanied’, a spontaneous series of EPs.
Just overnight, the fifth volume has been released – a minimal, poignant addition that strips down any excess in Helena’s music, showcasing the emotional core of her songwriting.
She shares…
“When I completed what I believed would be my first album in 2017, I was left with a random collection of songs. Rather than trying to fit them into a conventional format, I decided to release them as a series of brief EPs titled ‘Altogether Unaccompanied’, volumes I-IV. Volume V is available today, and this series serves as an open-ended space for me to present songs that haven’t found a place on albums or that exist independently, almost unaccompanied.”
Included in the release, ‘Silver And Red’ is a reflective track, a soft incantation accompanied by a video created by Nik Arthur, showcasing a time-lapse of a serene brook navigating through winter ice.
