Ezra Furman Unveils Upcoming Album ‘Goodbye Small Head’

Ezra Furman is set to unveil her new album, ‘Goodbye Small Head,’ on May 16th.

The artist recently hinted at her comeback, as she prepares to release her tenth studio album this Spring.

The title of the new album, ‘Goodbye Small Head,’ is inspired by a line from the 1999 Sleater-Kinney song ‘Get Up,’ a phrase that resonated with Ezra Furman while she was compiling the album. The band's vocalist, Corin Tucker, passionately expresses this line as she reflects on death and the loss of identity, as noted by Ezra.

In an introductory note, she writes: “There’s something about that dissolution that is both horrific and stunning. We fear the loss of ourselves, yet we desire it more than anything else. This is the essence of this record. This kind of music invites us to peer into the frightening and beautiful world that exists beyond the mundane. Join me in this exploration, won’t you?”

The album, set for release on May 16th, will be followed by an exhilarating tour in the UK. On May 18th, Ezra Furman will showcase A World Of Love And Care at EartH in London, featuring guests such as Du Blonde, Modern Woman, Westside Cowboy, and others.

Regarding the new album, Ezra Furman shares: “Twelve songs, each reflecting a different aspect of the experience of losing control completely—whether through weakness, illness, mysticism, BDSM, drugs, heartbreak, or simply navigating a flawed society with awareness. These tracks are drenched in intensity. They don’t depict someone spiraling out of control; they delve into that individual's heart.”

The album is currently available for pre-order and is led by the new single ‘Grand Mal’—a powerful piece of music that you can listen to below.
