Hartlepool's MARKETPLACE has made a lively return with their new single ‘Ode To Monty.’
This rising indie-pop group combines powerful guitar sounds with a stunning variety of melodies, creating clear pop impressions in the process. A series of fantastic performances have set the stage for this moment, with MARKETPLACE having recently worked in the studio alongside producer Chad Rodgers (known for his work with Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Cape Cub).
The result is the new single ‘Ode To Monty.’ This upbeat blend of pop-influenced indie is enriched by the band’s energetic and lively performance.
Capturing the spirit of their live sound, ‘Ode To Monty’ is expertly crafted, showcasing exceptional melodic songwriting – and yes, the ‘Monty’ mentioned in the title refers to gardener and broadcaster Monty Don!
Vocalist Evie shares her thoughts on the single…
“We aimed to create a genuinely heartfelt love song, something we've never really approached before because we tend to not take ourselves too seriously. This often reflects in our lyrics, where we address topics more playfully. So, Ross (the drummer) suggested, ‘Can you make it about celebrity gardener Monty Don from Gardeners’ World?’ and hence he became the focus of my affections in the song's lyrics.”
