Attention all RuPaul's Drag Race enthusiasts – there's a fresh track we can't wait to see the queens lip sync to! Our current cover star, Self Esteem, has released another song from her upcoming album ‘A Complicated Woman’, and it’s delightfully provocative. Combining elements of stream-of-consciousness with a liberation anthem, ‘69’ features Rebecca Lucy Taylor clarifying her preferred sex positions, and let's just say the titular method isn't faring well. “I always wanted to write a song that lists and rates sex positions,” Taylor explains in a press release. “Much of my music expresses what I find difficult to say in real life. I like the idea of clearly expressing your needs in a quick three-minute house song. It also has a political edge – women are still expected to satisfy others sexually; I can’t stand hearing another discussion about ‘faking it’, it really frustrates me! There’s already so much inequality in the male/female dynamic. Our bodies endure far more pain and suffering, so please let us enjoy the pleasure whenever we can!” This catchy new track follows last month’s stunning lead single ‘Focus Is Power’ and features the legendary queen Meatball, who introduces the song in a fabulous manner. “I had already written the song, and then months later my favorite drag queen Meatball said something similar on her podcast Sloppy Seconds,” she shares, “and I knew it had to be part of the album!” The song is taken from her upcoming third album, ‘A Complicated Woman’, set to release on April 25th via Polydor Records, following her Mercury Prize-nominated album ‘Prioritise Pleasure’ in 2021. Alongside the new track, she has also released an equally impressive video, which you can view below.
