The New London event LIDO has announced that this year's fifth and final headliner will be none other than the iconic Bristol band Massive Attack. They will join Jamie xx, Charli XCX, London Grammar, and Turnstile (as part of Outbreak Festival) as the main acts for LIDO’s inaugural series of day festivals. Scheduled for Friday, June 6th, this will be Massive Attack’s first London festival performance in nine years. Additionally, it continues the trip-hop pioneers' important initiative to enhance the sustainability of live music events, as the show will be entirely powered by batteries. Last summer, Massive Attack collaborated with the decarbonisation initiative ACT 1.5 to host an all-day outdoor event in Bristol, showcasing how large-scale music events can adopt environmentally friendly practices. They later held a second event indoors at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena, featuring IDLES and Nile Rodgers & Chic. Regarding this third ACT 1.5 show, Massive Attack’s live design collaborator Robert Del Naja stated, “History shows that combining art and science often helps us tackle significant challenges, so it's encouraging to see LIDO implementing insights from our ACT 1.5 event last year and applying those technologies to reduce emissions. Launching clean productions on this journey toward normalization is positive for everyone, especially for festival-goers and the local communities around them.” On the day of the event, Massive Attack will be joined by renowned French duo Air, South East London native Tirzah, and the new collaboration of hip-hop legends Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) and The Alchemist, titled Yasiin Bey and The Alchemist are FORENSICS. LIDO Festival 2025 is set to occur in Lido Field, Victoria Park, over two weekends in June (7th-8th and 13th-15th). Tickets for Massive Attack's headline performance will be available for general sale on Friday, February 21st. More information and tickets for all days can be found on the LIDO website, along with the complete lineup thus far:
