The Murder Capital reveals the last preview of ‘Blindness’ titled ‘A Distant Life’.

With the anticipated release of their third album ‘Blindness’ approaching on February 21st, The Murder Capital has unveiled a final teaser in the form of the new single ‘A Distant Life’. This track, characterized by its narrative emphasis and gritty, industrial-inspired percussion, carries a certain naive, nostalgic allure reminiscent of ’90s icons Pavement. Regarding the inspiration behind ‘A Distant Life,’ frontman James McGovern explained: “I composed the lyrics during a journey to one of the many inspiring service stations while touring in the UK. I had been listening to a podcast called Poetry Unbound that featured Margaret Atwood’s poem ‘All Bread,’ which ignited my desire to write.” He further elaborated: “I aimed for the music to feel innocent and unpretentious, akin to genuine love. That evening, Irv and I stood outside the back of the venue in Liverpool; I asked him to play two chords repeatedly. Everything came together quickly, enhanced by Irv’s contributions, and for that brief moment, the gap between my girlfriend and me felt a tad smaller.” You can listen to ‘A Distant Life’ and discover more about the inspirations behind ‘Blindness’ in our fresh interview with James below.
