Jensen McRae has announced a new album.
At just 27 years old, the songwriter has already completed her studies at USC’s Thornton School of Music, toured with acts like Noah Kahan, MUNA, Amos Lee, and Corinne Bailey Rae, and received significant praise from music critics.
Her upcoming album, ‘I Don’t Know How But They Found Me!’, will be available on April 25th, and it reflects Jensen’s experience as a Black woman in the folk music scene, which is typically dominated by white artists.
The album's title plays on a quote from Back To The Future and conveys a lighthearted message of resilience drawn from her own experiences. She states…
“I could’ve easily crumbled under the weight of what I went through, but I didn’t. I was strong the entire time.”
The album was recorded in North Carolina with Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Bon Iver) and features contributions from Nathan Stocker (Hippo Campus), Matthew McCaughan (Bon Iver), and her brother Holden McRae. It promises 11 tracks filled with melodic intention and personal reflection.
