Pan Amsterdam has revealed information about his upcoming album 'Confines'.
The artist, based in New York, engages in a diverse range of artistic disciplines, blending elements of jazz, club music, introspective studio work, and more.
A contemplative artist, Pan Amsterdam has recently joined Heavenly Recordings and will perform at London’s Jazz Cafe on June 4th.
The new album 'Confines' encapsulates the various facets of his artistry and is scheduled for release on May 23rd.
The title track is currently available online, leading into the array of creativity that the album embodies. Pan Amsterdam shares his thoughts:
With 'Confines', I created a stream-of-consciousness rhyme that, upon reflecting on the verses, felt reminiscent of scrolling through various content on a social network. It was a continuous scroll without breaks. I doubt I'm the only one experiencing this; it's become part of daily life.
Hypernormalization, intensified by this scroll-down culture, influences me, and I'm okay with it as long as I'm aware of what's happening. I believe that if I ignore it, I might become too complacent in that confinement. Therefore, it feels rewarding to consciously reflect this in my work.
A significant portion of the album embodies this concept—a sincere and continuous scroll. It’s somewhat of a 'right back atcha' approach. Furthermore, in this scrolling context, I realize that very few people exclusively listen to one artist or genre, yet I'm expected to represent a single genre? Please don’t limit me to that confinement.
