Although her 2021 album ‘And Then Life Was Beautiful’ released in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nao still managed to evoke a sense of sensual warmth amidst the turmoil, even while grappling with her own challenges. After being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome prior to its launch, the London singer opted not to tour the album, prioritizing her health and well-being instead; the effects of that choice are evident on her follow-up, ‘Jupiter’. The titles of the tracks on her fourth album (‘Elevate’, ‘Happy People’, ‘Better Days’) reflect a palpable sense of joy and optimism that emanates from its core, while the opening track ‘Wildflowers’ shines with a tranquil, unrestrained energy that seamlessly transitions into the subsequent songs. From the exuberant guitar solo in ‘Elevate’ to the enticing rhythms of ‘We All Win’, it’s clear that Nao is thoroughly enjoying her musical journey, fluidly navigating various sonic styles and emotions, tapping into a sound that feels both evocatively nostalgic and current all at once. In astrology, Jupiter is often associated with growth, healing, and prosperity, and in this instance, Nao’s fourth album certainly lives up to its name.
