British producer and electronic artist Joe Thornalley, known as Vegyn, has revealed an official reimagining of AIR’s iconic 1998 debut album, ‘Moon Safari’.
In an interview with CLASH last year, Vegyn, recognized for his production work with artists like Frank Ocean and Travis Scott, is celebrated for his complex solo projects that challenge the norms of genre, format, and process. Entitled ‘Blue Moon Safari’, Vegyn infuses his unique style into the French duo’s cherished ambient-pop masterpiece. The reimagined work is presented in a new tracklist and will be available on colored blue vinyl, featuring a transparent blue sleeve.
AIR’s ‘Moon Safari’ was praised upon its release as a downtempo triumph, blending “dreamy synths, groovy bass lines, and lush melodies” – effectively marrying pop appeal with innovative experimentation.
Recently, AIR celebrated the 25th anniversary of ‘Moon Safari’ by performing their landmark album live for the first time, which included 77 shows across Europe, North America, Australia, Latin America, and Asia in some of the most prestigious venues. The launch of Vegyn’s ‘Blue Moon Safari’ will coincide with AIR’s third international tour, which begins at the end of March 2025.
