Indie troubadours Sports Team have released another preview of their upcoming third album, ‘Boys These Days,’ titled ‘Maybe When We’re 30.’ In true Sports Team style, the track examines the often-overlooked aspects of middle-class English life. Lyricist Rob Knaggs has described it as “a song for Brooklyn Beckham.” This latest offering follows their previous singles ‘I’m In Love (Subaru),’ ‘Condensation,’ and ‘Bang Bang Bang,’ and delves into the experience of evolving from spirited party starters into well-rounded adults with long-term partners. “When you start off in a band, you feel like Slurms Mackenzie (the party slug from Futurama),” Rob explains. “You can’t believe it’s your job to travel the world, enjoy drinks, and create music with your friends. Then one morning, you look around, and all your friends are getting married, and you realize, maybe what I really want is to grow old, get a dog, write unpleasant things about Brooklyn Beckham on Facebook, go on cruises, and have minor arguments with my neighbors about whether the council recycles cardboard.” You can watch the official video for ‘Maybe When We’re 30’—which the band directed themselves—here:
