London-based musician and creator Lauren Duffus returns with her new single ‘N.U.M.T.E,’ released through Select Few, a label under AMF Records, which is home to artists like Alice Glass, 070 Shake, and Greentea Peng.
‘N.U.M.T.E’ marks Lauren’s first release since her breakout tracks in 2022, ‘Habits’ and ‘Love Love Love.’ This new track continues her exploration of after-dark sounds, blending ethereal vocals with a rich breakbeat atmosphere, capturing her anxious reflections on desire and sadness, existing in the space between the nightclub and the quiet hours that follow.
In her own words, ‘N.U.M.T.E’ is “a dynamic, dystopian club track with melancholic chords underlying R&B-inspired vocals, conveying themes of longing and nostalgia.”
Duffus has cultivated an enigmatic presence with only a small number of releases. Her journey began as an experiment in production software during the 2020 lockdown, and her early lo-fi self-releases on SoundCloud quickly garnered attention from influential figures.
This eventually led to her participation in NTS’ prestigious artist development program and collaborations with respected underground labels like AD93. Her music draws inspiration from artists such as Oneohtrix Point Never and the early 2010s witch house movement.
