The New York quartet Florist has released a new single titled ‘Moon, Sea, Devil,’ from their upcoming album ‘Jellywish,’ set to be released on April 4th through Double Double Whammy.
Florist, which includes Emily Sprague, Rick Spataro, Jonnie Baker, and Felix Walworth, creates wistful melodies in ‘Moon, Sea, Devil’—a soothing folk remedy for challenging times that explores connections formed both on and beyond this earthly realm. This release follows their earlier singles, ‘Gloom Designs,’ ‘Have Heaven,’ and ‘This Was A Gift.’
“‘Moon, Sea, Devil’ explores our multidimensional consciousness within physical bodies. Since the release of our self-titled album, I’ve increasingly contemplated our identity as a collective being, impacting one another and our surroundings through countless small actions, feelings, and reactions,” Sprague shares.
“This song acknowledges the unseen realms alongside ours and encourages us to use that perspective to pierce through the illusions, serving as a powerful means to foster deeper empathy, love, and connections with others in our humbling reality. To harness our potential as a species, instigate genuine change, and improve life and equity for everyone, we must be bold in caring for one another and resist all that neglects the sanctity of life on Earth.”
With the enchanting ‘Jellywish,’ Florist encourages listeners to envision a world where magic, surrealism, and the supernatural accompany us in our daily lives. Regarding the album, which raises existential questions without providing straightforward answers, Sprague remarks: “It offers a gentle presentation of themes that are fundamentally chaotic, confusing, and complex… It possesses a vivid quality inspired by our reality, intertwining elements of fantasy that allow us to escape our world.”
Florist will launch a European tour to support their new album. Tickets can be purchased through Double Double Whammy.
