Welsh band Melin Melyn has released their debut album ‘Mill On The Hill’ in its entirety.
Now available, the album showcases the band's songwriting at its fullest, elevating their blend of psychedelic country pop to new heights.
With a conceptual approach, the album weaves together their influences—the shimmering pop of Brian Wilson, the distinctly Welsh creativity of Gruff Rhys, and the psychedelic country sound of Gram Parsons—into a unified narrative, anchored by an appealing overarching theme.
Melin Melyn translates to ‘Yellow Mill’ in Welsh, and the new LP invites listeners to the idyllic ‘Melin Village,’ a utopian setting where the community “revels in the joy of song.”
“Croeso! Welcome, everyone, to the enchanting world of the Mill On The Hill. The yellow mill perched atop a hill overlooks Melin Village and all its charming inhabitants. All are welcome here,” says Chief Miller Gruff. “Do not be fooled, this is no ordinary mill. Our mission is to create music inside the mill for all the residents of Melin Village and anyone else who wishes to listen. After all, who can envision a world without music?”
Infused with springtime vitality and whimsical imagination, ‘Mill On The Hill’ possesses a cartoon-like quality, reminiscent of a Magical Mystery Tour adventure that feels tidy and invigorating.
