A new EP from the late Marianne Faithfull has been announced.

The passing of the English artist earlier this year deeply affected the music community, with fans from various generations taking a moment to honor a true legend.

Remaining dedicated until the end, Marianne Faithfull completed her work on a new EP before her passing. Titled ‘Burning Moonlight,’ this four-track release is set to be available in a limited edition vinyl for Record Store Day on April 12th, followed by a streaming release on June 6th.

Produced by Andrew Batt, the four new tracks are inspired by the understanding of the duality that characterized the initial phase of Marianne’s career—her first two albums were released simultaneously 60 years ago on April 15th, 1965.

“It was quite unconventional to start your career like this, so we decided to bring the music full circle. One side of the EP draws inspiration from her debut pop album, Marianne Faithfull, while the other honors her folk origins in ‘Come My Way.’”

Marianne oversaw the completion of the EP and penned a press note shortly before her passing. “It's a good time to reflect,” she stated after finishing the project. “It allows me to recall all that I’ve accomplished. While I wouldn’t consider myself particularly nostalgic, I am enjoying this period of contemplation.”

“As we mourn the loss of Marianne, we are glad to announce the release of these songs that she worked on in the year leading up to her death. Creating and performing music was Marianne’s passion, and she never ceased to pursue it. Right until the end, she looked forward to this release, which now completes and celebrates her extraordinary artistic journey,” remarks her son, Nicholas Dunbar.

The title track, ‘Burning Moonlight,’ is a balladic folk hymn—its execution is exquisite and its simplicity is striking. Tune in now.
