Durand Jones & The Indications will be releasing their new album titled ‘Flowers’ on June 27th.
The band has reunited after a time of individual pursuits and considerable self-reflection from their versatile vocalist, Durand Jones. Reunited, Durand Jones & The Indications aim to delve into their soulful roots while exploring new aspirations.
The album ‘Flowers’, set to be released on June 27th through Dead Oceans, was mainly composed collaboratively at Rhein’s home studio in Chicago, with many songs developed from one-take demos to maintain a fresh feel.
“All of these songs address very mature themes—topics we hadn’t sung about before,” Durand Jones shares. “As we’ve entered our 30s and experienced various highs and lows in both our personal and professional lives, flowers symbolize maturity, growth, rejuvenation, and productivity.”
Aaron Frazer adds: “We maintained the playful spirit that initiated the project, while integrating the wisdom and lessons we've learned over the years.”
Reflecting on his return, Durand Jones mentions:
“I spent the last year and a half confronting my insecurities—my sexuality, growing up in poverty, and various other concerns. By putting everything on the table, I became a much stronger individual, leading me to rejoin the Indications with greater self-assurance.”
The stunning new track ‘Been So Long’ paves the way, presenting a lovely blend of disco-influenced soul music that feels both timeless and contemporary.
