CMAT is back! The country-pop favorite has just revealed that her upcoming album will be titled ‘Euro-Country’, set to release on 29th August through AWAL. This album follows her 2023 Mercury Prize shortlisted project ‘Crazymad, For Me’. According to CMAT, this is “the most important record I’ve made,” promising an ambitious examination of themes like economics, identity, fame, and grief—all infused with her signature CMAT humor. “I’m always going to create the work I want to because there’s a little gremlin in my head that warns me if it’s not good,” she expressed. “Beyond striving for success, there’s a more significant gremlin that pushes me to produce genuinely good music. She’s tough and has created chaos in my life at times, but she’s essential to me, and she’s always correct.” To celebrate this announcement, she has also released the lead single from ‘Euro-Country’, titled ‘Running/Planning’—an anthem that delves into the constant pressure on women to fulfill multiple roles. CMAT elaborates: “You start dating, get engaged, marry, have children, and so on…everything must follow this linear sequence (which is why the chorus is repetitive!). And the moment you stray from that course, your mother starts questioning you. This narrow path everyone is expected to follow is filled with anxiety when you diverge from it. I don’t know anyone who says, ‘Yeah, I love this!’” You can grab an archival copy of our fantastic CMAT-covering magazine from August 2023 here, and watch the official video for ‘Running/Planning’ below. Additionally, CMAT has confirmed that she’ll be touring this Autumn to celebrate the release of ‘Euro-Country’, visiting 13 cities across the UK, including the renowned Brixton Academy in London, before concluding in style at Dublin’s 3Arena.
