West Coast musician The Sea At Midnight is back with a new single titled ‘Chopping Them Down’.
This LA-based project is the persona of singer-songwriter Vince Grant, whose artistry is deeply influenced by his environment and the prevailing social conditions.
The new track ‘Chopping Them Down’ is especially timely – it's an alt-rock anthem that reflects his ongoing passion for eco-politics.
The lyrics express concern about climate change, serving as both a mirror and a warning. The effects are already evident around us, prompting Vince to donate all Bandcamp earnings from the single to those affected by the recent fires in Los Angeles.
With guitar-driven songwriting, his music delivers a strong impact, unified by the raw intention that characterizes The Sea At Midnight.

The fundamentals of climate change are clear: carbon dioxide, mainly from burning fossil fuels, builds up in the atmosphere, trapping heat that would otherwise escape into space. This results in rising global temperatures and climate unpredictability. Trees are crucial in countering this, as they absorb carbon dioxide, convert it to oxygen, and store carbon.
Yet, when forests are devastated—be it through logging, land clearing, or wildfires—the stored carbon is released back into the atmosphere, worsening global warming. Deforestation removes a critical carbon sink and accelerates climate change by increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide levels. In an era when we are already witnessing disastrous climate consequences, continuously destroying forests and perpetuating this destructive cycle seems utterly irrational to me.
