Today, Chinese-American producer, singer, and DJ XIE shines a spotlight on the female artists who have influenced her sound—such as Peggy Gou, LP Giobbi, and others—in a specially curated playlist for Atwood Magazine's Women’s History Month initiative!
XIE (pronounced “Shay”) is an emerging producer and DJ who is making a significant impact in the house music scene. As a versatile artist, XIE writes, records, and performs her own vocals, seamlessly combining her talents as a songwriter and musician into a distinctive sound that merges UK-inspired tech house with pop crossover elements. With classical training in piano and strings, she adds depth and precision to her productions. XIE has performed at major events like Coachella’s Do LaB, HARD Summer, and EDC Las Vegas, sharing the stage with notable artists such as Bob Sinclar and Kyle Watson. Following a recent release on the prestigious label Thrive Music and her upcoming debut on the UK label Lady of the House, XIE is establishing herself as a prominent figure in electronic music.
Her latest single, “LOVE LANGUAGE,” is now available ahead of her forthcoming ‘Kick Drum Heart’ EP, scheduled for release this April via Lady of the House!

“Oblivion” – Grimes
Grimes was one of my greatest inspirations when I first ventured into electronic music. I recall watching her on stage, singing and playing the keyboard, and realizing she produced all her music—I was completely captivated and thought to myself, this is what I need to be doing! Her original tracks are my favorites; there’s something incredibly raw and unique about them.
“Galt” – LP Giobbi
LP is such an incredible artist and person. I'm really impressed by everything she’s achieving in her own career, as well as her support for other emerging female creatives in the industry. I resonate with her classical training background and find it fascinating how she combines that with electronic music.
“Find The Way” – Peggy Gou
I love witnessing Peggy thrive as a fellow Asian woman in dance music. Her use of her own vocals creates a harmony in all her tracks, and I think the way she incorporates her fashion sense into her brand is fantastic.
“I Don’t Remember” – Walker & Royce, VNSSA
VNSSA is a brilliant DJ and producer (and such a genuine person too!). This song is one of my favorites from 2024.
“Forget About Me” – Aluna, Diplo, Durant
I admire so many of Aluna’s songs and find her voice to be truly distinctive. She is a talented songwriter, and it’s rare for me to love everything an artist releases, but I really respect her work.
