"A turbulent journey towards self-compassion and compassion for others..."
On April 15, 2025, The Hogstad Brothers have released their eagerly anticipated debut album ‘Creatures In The Dirt’.
The duo emerged in 2018 under the name Flyer Learning, debuting with an impressive EP that gained traction from notable influencers like Earmilk. Gradually, The Hogstad Brothers clarified their artistic vision, with later releases showcasing significant creative self-assurance.
Returning at the end of 2024, they released a series of singles, including ‘Spinning Round’, ‘Take Me Higher’, and ‘Worth It’, setting the stage for their next phase. Their sound combines soft, caramel-infused bedroom soul reminiscent of Steve Lacy, with production elements echoing Toro y Moi.
Based in Palmdale, California, they have now presented their full debut album, ‘Creatures In The Dirt’, which encapsulates a journey both creatively and emotionally.
Beginning with the personal track ‘Whisper’, notable tracks include the enchanting ‘Rain’, the uplifting ‘Take Me Higher’ (a previously released single), and the mellow closer ‘Worth It’.
Regarding the album, the duo reflects…
“We were facing many challenges in our lives during the creation of this album. Our examination of these challenges occurred alongside and through the sonic and lyrical journeys represented in these songs. ‘Creatures In The Dirt’ ultimately narrates a tumultuous path toward compassion for ourselves and each other.”
