Myles Smith has released a new track titled ‘My First Heartbreak’.
It has already been an eventful year for the songwriter, who won a BRIT Award and delivered a memorable speech during the glamorous ceremony.
Currently on a sold-out tour across the U.S., the English musician is sharing his sound worldwide while expressing his truth along the way.
Now available, ‘My First Heartbreak’ serves as audio therapy – a cathartic journey in which Myles addresses a painful childhood memory.
Reflecting on the moment his father departed, the song explores the deep void left in his absence and the unfulfilled experiences that Myles had to navigate on his own.
True to form, he approaches it with remarkable empathy and a noteworthy level of maturity – despite the raw emotions, Myles maintains a sense of control.
He shares…
This song represents my childhood and the effects of my father’s departure. It captures the pain and confusion I experienced as a child, grappling with the reasons for his absence and struggling with feelings of guilt. Even after he left, there’s an undeniable bond – I recognize parts of him in myself, in my features, in who I am. That bittersweet realization is central to the song.
As I have matured, I’ve reconciled that pain and used it to shape the person I aspire to be. This song embodies both heartbreak and resilience, as well as hope. It’s about breaking the cycle, learning from my past, and committing to being a father who will never leave.
