This year is significant for 27-year-old Yungblud. While fans have already noted the return of Bludfest in June, the Doncaster rebel has even more surprises in store; shortly, he will announce Idols, the first installment of a bold double album release, alongside a comprehensive world tour. Once the news is released, he will be constantly on the move, with flights scheduled to Cologne, Los Angeles, and beyond to share the details.
Yet, instead of taking it easy before his early flight to Germany, Dominic Richard Harrison is out past his bedtime. With his Bludfest co-headliners Chase Atlantic in town, he couldn’t resist fitting in some fun amidst his busy schedule. Thus, we find Dom in the underground parking lot of Manchester’s Co-Op Live, applying his eyeliner using a car's wing mirror.
“Gotta look your best, ain’t ya?” he grins, before darting off to locate the Australian alt R&B trio.

On the surface, Yungblud and Chase Atlantic appear to be from different worlds; Yungblud is a champion for the misfits, an emo Dennis The Menace rallying crowds with bold anthems of self-acceptance, while Chase Atlantic explores sultry sounds, blending trap rhythms, saxophone interludes, and rich synths. However, once Dom bursts into the green room, the unexpected pairing of Doncaster and Australia makes complete sense.
In a flurry of excited shouts, the Chase Atlantic crew welcomes Dom as if he were family – even the mothers of Clinton and Mitchel Cave greet him with warm smiles, tight hugs, and cheek kisses. Although Chase Atlantic radiate an effortlessly cool vibe, they are genuine sweethearts beneath their chains and baggy jeans – and Dom relishes the affection, punctuating each embrace with a shout of “oh my god, I’m so happy to see this motherfucker, too!” as he moves on to the next person.

As Dom joyfully weaves through the crowd, Chase Atlantic’s guitarist and singer Christian Anthony strolls over, smiling as he surveys the gathering. “You know, it’s been seven years since we first met,” he reminisces. “All because we couldn’t afford a bus on our own…”
Back in 2018, both Chase Atlantic and Yungblud were slated to perform at the Warped Tour in the US. Although the festival is affectionately referred to as ‘punk rock summer camp’, it was notoriously tough. It provided a fantastic opportunity to reach audiences across the US, but the experience was grueling, with bands frequently driving between states and cramped in cheap vans.
While Dom is a lively performer on stage, he wasn’t keen on the idea of sleeping in a confined van for weeks. Even though they had never met, he reached out to the Australians in hopes of sharing the costs of a tour bus. This decision marked the start of a beautiful friendship – one that, seven years later, has seen them transition from Warped Tour underdogs to successful festival headliners.

After the guys have caught up on all the formalities (downing shots of Fireball whisky, asking Dom to show off his muscles, and joking about his new tattoo that definitely doesn’t say “WEED”), we somehow manage to bring them to a quieter room. However, it quickly becomes evident that we’ve carried the chaos with us. There’s no order – despite Dom’s best efforts, pulling over a chair and suggesting, “look, love, why don’t you sit here,” before chaos erupts again.
Finally, Mitchel cuts through the commotion by clearing his throat. He adopts an ‘interview’ tone. “Ahem – What can I say about Dom?” he says somewhat nostalgically. “We’re like brothers in a way…”
The brief moment of seriousness is abruptly broken, as Mitchel drops the formal act to simply say, “Dom’s my boy!” The sudden shift in tone sends the room into fits of laughter, with everyone eager to keep things light.
“We are completely family, we’re fucking nuts,” Dom laughs, a sparkle in his eye. “You’re lucky to have us all in one room, to be honest…”
“Trying to get us to sit down formally… it’s just not happening,” Mitchel concurs. “It’s like attempting to get everyone together for Christmas dinner.”
“On the topic of Christmas dinner… all we’ve managed to do since we got in here is roast each other,” Christian observes, leading to another round of laughter.

Once the conversation settles into a rhythm, the boys reflect nostalgically. “With Warped Tour, we were just stoked to be there,” Yungblud remarks. “To be honest though, mentally, that tour was the hardest thing. We felt like outsiders because we had our hip-hop and R&B influences… We were relying on each
