Canadian interdisciplinary artist VAYA has been honored at the Humro Cinema Film Fest, with her project ‘ACHAIAH 7: LOVE INTO PATIENCE’ receiving a prestigious award.
This accolade recognizes the film’s fusion of evocative music, visual storytelling, and spiritual elements drawn from Kabbalistic traditions. ‘ACHAIAH 7: LOVE INTO PATIENCE’ is centered around VAYA’s original composition of the same name; a haunting piece inspired by Achaiah, the seventh angel in Kabbalah, who is linked to patience and divine wisdom.
“ACHAIAH, the 7th Angel of Kabbalah, embodies patience and provides a deep understanding of divine mysteries. Referred to as the ‘Good and Patient God’, he is vital in connecting those he guides to the comprehension of universal laws and serves as a key for individuals seeking spiritual growth.”
The project’s international production reflects the borderless ethos at its core. The track was recorded at Union Sound Company in Toronto, with engineer Chris Stringer, and features subtle drumming from Stefan Loebus, mixing by Mike Fahey in the U.S., and mastering by Grammy-winning engineer Adam Ayan.
The accompanying film, directed by VAYA, intertwines a metaphysical narrative with symbolic visuals. The recurring theme of hands symbolizes connection and labor, with choreographed segments featuring circus artists Edio Silvio and Isadora Bello. The cinematography draws inspiration from classical art, particularly Francesco Hayez’s The Kiss, though VAYA deliberately steers clear of direct narrative interpretation, instead inviting personal contemplation.
