HAAi Reveals Upcoming Album ‘HUMANiSE’

Australian-born artist HAAi, who is based in London, is set to release her new studio album ‘HUMANiSE’ on October 10th through Mute.

Three years after her debut album ‘Baby, We’re Ascending’, ‘HUMANiSE’ reflects HAAi’s development as a forward-thinking electronic producer. This twelve-track album contemplates the essence of being human in an increasingly digital landscape, as AI emerges as a subtle yet ominous presence while our screens create distance between us. The outcome is an exhilarating journey through machine-driven dystopia and emotionally rich utopia.

“Throughout the album, I kept envisioning a machine with a human heart,” she explains. “It was a lengthy process to arrive at this point; it's a deeply vulnerable endeavor, but for this album, it was crucial for me to emphasize this ‘human heart’.”

A tribute to the uplifting nature of humanity and community, HAAi presents an audio preview with ‘Satellite’, featuring Jon Hopkins, lead vocals by Obi Franky, and contributions from ILĀ and TRANS VOICES. This song is a glitchy, expansive, yet triumphant anthem that evokes early Kompakt records, 90s rave, and 2-step.

HAAi elaborates: “‘Satellite’ embodies everything ‘HUMANiSE’ represents: the significance of our connections and the unique humanity we offer one another in a swiftly evolving world. I'm incredibly fortunate to have collaborated on this track with Jon, Obi, ILĀ, and TRANS VOICES. This album is dedicated to my trans and queer family and our allies, expressing gratitude for the light you bring to every space. I will always stand with you.”

Staying true to the collaborative spirit of the album, HAAi has enlisted Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip, rapper KAM-BU, artist Kaiden Ford, poet James Massiah, and two choirs: TRANS VOICES, led by choir director ILĀ, and a gospel choir under Wendi Rose.
