The Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) has partnered with WeAre8 to create a healthier and more positive digital environment for both artists and fans.
The FAC, a UK trade organization advocating for the rights and interests of music artists, will collaborate with WeAre8 – The People’s Platform – to address the negative impact social media has on musicians' careers and promote a more sustainable option.
A recent study conducted by the National Education Union, in association with the New Britain Project and More In Common, revealed that two-thirds of Generation Z believe social media does more harm than good.
WeAre8 revolutionizes traditional social media models. It protects users from harmful content, allows individuals to own their audience, and ensures that followers see posts from accounts they choose to follow without algorithm interference. Advertising appears separately from content feeds, allowing users to opt in or out of viewing ads. Revenue generated from viewed ads is shared with users, which they can use to pay bills or contribute to charities and causes, including the Featured Artists Coalition.
Since its inception in 2022, WeAre8 has gained over three million users globally, forming partnerships with brands like CLASH Magazine.
This collaboration not only supports FAC-affiliated artists such as Blur’s David Rowntree, Alt-J, Primal Scream's bassist Simone Marie Butler, and Grammy-nominated artist Kelli-Leigh, but also includes awardees from the FAC’s Step Up Fund, such as Aziya, Chalk, Olive Jones, and twst. Additionally, the partnership will enable FAC members to provide insights that help refine WeAre8’s unique approach.

David Martin, CEO of the Featured Artists Coalition, stated:
“Many artists experience a complicated relationship with social media. While building a community around their music, they frequently encounter online negativity, frustrations with algorithms, and business models that conflict with their interests. The FAC’s alliance with WeAre8 seeks to transform these unhealthy dynamics, empowering our members to help redefine the future of social media and social culture.”
Laura Chase, UK MD/Global Chief Growth Officer at WeAre8, remarked:
“Music has a remarkable power to unite people and heal the world. At WeAre8, we believe artists and creators deserve more than just a platform; they deserve a digital environment that respects their artistry, amplifies their voices, and supports their well-being. Collaborating with the Featured Artists Coalition aligns seamlessly with our mission to return authority to the people. Together, we aim to create a space where artists can prosper, inspire change, and engage authentically, free from toxicity and exploitation. We are thrilled to welcome the FAC community to WeAre8 as we collectively shape a hopeful and human-centered digital future.”
Kelli-Leigh, FAC Board Director, stated:
“The partnership between the FAC and WeAre8 is truly exciting. The app’s philosophy is outstanding, and as an artist, I understand the pressure of competing against algorithms in the chaotic realm of social media. It’s refreshing to see an app that prioritizes the individuality of artists and promotes positive human interactions. The collaboration between FAC and WeAre8 feels ideal, and I am eager to see it flourish.”
The Halfway Kid, an artist and FAC member, shared:
“Social media is an essential reality for contemporary musicians aiming to connect with new audiences. It is the modern equivalent of a town square, where people gather, and as artists, we must go where the audience is.
“However, this town square doesn’t have to be draining, impersonal, and unpleasant. Sharing your music shouldn’t involve the threat of personal attacks. Some social media platforms have overlooked this need, but WeAre8 has not.
“I’ve really enjoyed connecting with new listeners while focusing on the positive aspects of social media – finding community. I’m a huge supporter of WeAre8.”
FAC members and fans can access exclusive content and support the coalition by joining WeAre8 and following @FeaturedArtistsCoalition on the app. To learn more, visit www.WeAre8.com or download the WeAre8 app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
