Bimini’s Best Underground Rave Tracks for the Queer Community

Bimini stands out as a pioneer, a DJ and producer who has infused underground elements into the mainstream. A prominent figure in the club scene, their new single ‘Keep On Dancing’ is timed perfectly with the arrival of summer and the festival season.

To celebrate this shift in atmosphere, Bimini has released ‘Keep On Dancing’, which pays homage to their early days of raving at queer nights in East London.

The complete package is available now, featuring remixes from influential Northern club artist I. JORDAN.

Enthralled by Bimini’s vibrant energy, Clash invited the DJ and producer to reflect on and highlight their favorite tracks from the queer underground rave scene.

Limiting this to just eight tracks? Quite frankly, that’s a challenge. I've been dancing since I could operate a CD player—miming passionately to ‘90s pop in the mirror, gathering around a D-600 at house parties with garage music blasting, or getting completely immersed in warehouse raves where the walls felt like they were sweating harder than a Tory at an overwhelming event.

I've experienced many lives on the dancefloor—queer nights, straight nights (we all have our moments), disappearing into forest festivals, working in world music venues, dive bars, and one slightly cursed boat party. One moment it's jungle, and the next it's an unexpected Kylie remix that sends the crowd soaring. The genres may change, the outfits may get more revealing, but the desire to dance is unmistakable.

These tracks serve as time machines. They have accompanied me through 5 am highs, dramatic exits, thoughtful retreats, resurgence moments, and impromptu runway displays in smoking areas. Some tracks are glamorous, some are gritty, and all are undeniably iconic. And yes, I've danced to each one while wearing eight-inch Pleasers and what can only be described as a 'mesh situation,' or perhaps a mess situation; either applies.

Tronco Traxx – ‘Walk For Me’

As soon as you hear that deep, divine voice say, “WALK. FOR. ME.” you know what's about to happen. Fans start fluttering, the floor clears, and someone’s already kicking off a death drop. This track is quintessential queer club law—originally released in 1998 but revived in the 2010s by DJs exploring tribal house and ballroom samples. Built on a Kevin Aviance sample (from the legendary ‘Cunty’), it loops like a trance-inducing rallying call. It’s minimal, rhythmic, and raw. You don’t simply dance to this; you embody it. It is, quite literally, LAW.

Norma Jean Bell – ‘I’m The Baddest Bitch (In the Room)’

Funky house? SEX. Live saxophone? DOUBLE SEX. Vocals that radiate bad bitch energy? FULL ORGY.

Norma Jean Bell was a jazz saxophonist who collaborated closely with Moodymann, bringing that Detroit house vibe infused with her bold attitude. I've wanted to do something with this track for ages—it exudes all the flair and confidence of a runway show in hell. It’s as if Studio 54 and a strip club had a child.

Bimini & ABSOLUTE. – ‘Keep On Dancing; (I. JORDAN Remix)

Having I. JORDAN remix our new release ‘Keep On Dancing’ is a significant moment. They are not only one of the most exciting producers in the UK right now—they embody a fearless, queer creative spirit that feels essential.

The original track is a love letter to the dancefloor, born from frustration: seeing queer spaces fade away, witnessing identity be debated in Parliament as if it were a trend, and experiencing the politicization of joy. I. JORDAN took all of this and transformed it into something powerful—sweaty, euphoric, and wonderfully chaotic. It captures what the future of queer rave should sound like: radical, unapologetic, and alive. Collaborating with them is nothing short of iconic!

      Madonna – ‘Skin’

A lesser-known gem from ‘Ray Of Light’, which I maintain is the best dance album by any leading pop star—and not just any star—THE star. ‘Skin’ is slippery, seductive, and just slightly off-kilter, as all great 5 am warehouse tracks should be. You can clearly hear William Orbit’s influence throughout. It encapsulates the feeling of making out with a stranger in a room filled with lasers and then pretending you never met again. Essentially ethereal grunge.

Chase & Status – ‘End Credits’

While not technically underground, in terms of feelings? Deep in the rave experience.

This track will always be associated with my best friend Tweed. She introduced me to a variety of genres—drum and bass, dubstep, grime, jungle. She had an uncanny knack for choosing songs that would evoke strong emotions. We would rave until
