Everything about Lo Lauren is uplifting. On stage, she exudes a whirlwind of energy and communication. In her recordings, she is lively, vibrant, and full of color. And in conversation? She is thrilled about the debut of her new project, ‘Wonderlust’. “It feels amazing!” she declares. “For me, it’s been very cathartic because some of the songs were written years ago, so releasing them feels like a long-overdue sigh of relief and a natural way to close this chapter.” When asked about the central theme, she is clear: “Imagination.”
“Everything on ‘Wonderlust’ is driven by a yearning for more, whether that’s in relationships, moments, or life itself. Being in this curious state of mind is what makes life engaging, and that — combined with the excitement that comes with youth and figuring things out — is hopefully what ties it all together.”
Now available, the album is enjoyable and heartfelt. It also spans a wide range: ‘Jack & Rose’ is her “first true ballad,” inspired by a real-life event where she “had to conceal my feelings.” ‘Wonder’ is her favorite song to perform live; “it’s pure pop energy, and I get to jump around like a wild girl!”
Beneath its shimmering surface, Lo Lauren’s work possesses significant emotional depth. She is a committed ally to the LGBTQI+ community, a perspective shaped by her family — her father is gay, and his experiences have always resonated with her.
“It’s taught me so much about love, acceptance, and being authentic from a young age and has definitely influenced who I am,” she shares. “We share a very special and unique bond that I cherish. My dad symbolizes safety for me, which is why I’ve always felt at home with the LGBTQIA+ community.”
Lo Lauren enjoys building her community show by show — she even hosts an IG group chat. She treasures the connection with her fans. She’s gone to great lengths for her merchandise, offering handmade LO hair clips. “I wouldn’t say the process is particularly enjoyable since I often end up covered in superglue and glitter!”
When she’s not crafting catchy pop songs, Lo Lauren is an enthusiastic runner, claiming it helps her maintain a calm demeanor (well, almost) in the studio. “It clears my mind, and I usually feel more energized and productive,” she states. The creative flow from running seems to inspire her “new stuff” — yes, her future plans…
“I’m currently having a blast wrapping up my next project, which I will unveil later this year! There’s new music, the launch of my monthly ‘GLO’ craft-themed hangouts, and I have a very exciting show coming up that I can’t wait to announce…”
We conclude by discussing the vibrant color in her songwriting, the strong emotions, and her passionate love for melody. “What is life without fun, sparkle, pizzazz? I just want people to enjoy themselves, feel amazing, and escape the mundane, harsh realities of life.”
