Hot Chip is set to release their new compilation album ‘Joy In Repetition’ on September 5th.
This forthcoming album, which spans their entire career, showcases the breadth of Hot Chip's work, including their early music, their unexpected (yet deserved) crossover to the charts, and their current standing as respected figures in the dance-pop genre.
Scheduled for release on September 5th, the 16-track compilation highlights a consistent thread throughout their discography, featuring many of their most loved songs.
The title ‘Joy In Repetition’ is derived from their iconic track ‘Over And Over,’ and the artwork, designed by Peter Blake, depicts—surprise—a "monkey with a miniature cymbal..."
“There’s joy in doing something repeatedly,” comments vocalist Alexis Taylor. “That’s applicable to rhythms, grooves, and collaborating on records together for 20 years. We’re still at it, and we still enjoy it.”
The band’s song ‘Devotion’ has a new video directed by Will Kindrick, filmed in Japan.
The filmmaker shares…
I’ve been shooting in Japan a lot lately and have developed an obsession with keibiin (Japanese security guards). While waiting for a train, I observed a stoic guard on the platform, his arm outstretched, robotically waving what resembled a lightsaber, with an extremely intense gaze.
Behind those eyes was nothing but sheer dedication to his job. I began to reflect on these unsung heroes who brave the elements each day—rain or shine—directing traffic, providing parking guidance, and shielding us from inadvertently entering active construction sites. What lies beneath the helmet? This video is my tribute to the devoted, diligent keibiin everywhere!
Tune in now.
