Jay Som Reveals ‘Belong’ – Her First Album in Six Years

It will be released on October 10th...

Jay Som is set to return later this year with her new album ‘Belong’.

The artist, Melina Duterte, received significant praise for her earlier albums, reaching a pinnacle with 2019’s excellent ‘Anak Ko’.

After taking a break, Jay Som has announced plans for her upcoming studio album, her first in six years.

Scheduled for release on October 10th through Lucky Number, this brand-new 11-track album features appearances by Jim Adkins and Paramore’s Hayley Williams.

Two new tracks are available now: ‘Float’ pays tribute to the early 2000s MTV anthems, channeling the sound of Jimmy Eat World. Jim Adkins also contributes to the song.

Jay Som shares: “This song explores the struggle of trying to cling to past versions of oneself for the sake of self-preservation. The fear of the unknown can feel so daunting that sometimes the best approach is to sit with it rather than fight or flee from it.”

Jim Adkins comments: “Melina is truly a professional in every facet of music creation. I'm grateful that she made space for me in her vision, and it was incredibly enjoyable to collaborate. It’s a fantastic song!”

Energetic and lively, ‘Float’ contrasts with the deeper, more mellow ‘A Million Reasons Why’.
