The enigmatic NYC group NODEGA is set to launch their first project, 'Rot In Helvetica,' later this month.

There's a new group making waves in New York - sort of. Blending hardcore, thrash-punk, and indie-rock, the five-member band NODEGA has announced that their debut album, ‘Rot In Helvetica’, is set to be released on 18th July through Chrysalis. This record explores the dissatisfaction and dystopian aspects of contemporary life, drawing inspiration from the iconic Kim Gordon in its attitude. The band explains, “Kim Gordon once pointed out that the punk ethos revolves around saying ‘No’. We created this collection of old school capital P ‘punk’ while heavily influenced by classic hardcore, skate punk, and early thrash, but we added melody to ensure we distance ourselves from the traditional mohawk crowd and the countless post-punk imitators (many of whom lack any genuine connection to the true spirit of ‘post punk’).” They further add, “This album aims to free the wisdom, folly, and joy inherent in the teenage mind. Despite many imperfections, the ideal Teenager has access to a spiritual truth that should not be overlooked. The pure-hearted Teenager, for instance, wouldn’t go through imaginary hoops to excuse or ignore state-sponsored genocide. They will simply (and loudly) say ‘NO!’.” As an introduction to their music, NODEGA has also released ‘Quantify’, the lead single from ‘Rot In Helvetica’, which critiques our odd tendency to “rank (and quantify with numbers or stars) every experience”. Give it a listen below. Additionally, NODEGA will be celebrating the release of ‘Rot In Helvetica’ with a series of limited live shows on both sides of the Atlantic. Here’s where you can see them: JULY 2025 16 NYC, Alphaville 18 NYC, Rough Trade AUGUST 2025 02 London, Shacklewell Arms (NODEGA Showcase)
