"I’ve always had a vision of what Keo is like in my mind, and I guess it’s just been about moving towards that."
— Finn Keogh ‘Siren’ delves into themes of identity, which resonate deeply during the journey of coming of age as a young adult. Would you say that the process of creating and recording this project has influenced your personal development? If so, in what way? We all have our flaws, and I’m not sure if writing about mine has eliminated any. However, I’ve realized that writing helps [me] comprehend them, and being self-aware can only enhance [yourself]. For me, writing is a form of therapy - though, to be honest, I’m not entirely sure why I do it; I just feel compelled to. What’s your biggest musical flaw? I’ve always enjoyed playing in alternative guitar tunings, particularly when I stumble upon a new one. However, this tends to backfire during live performances because I constantly end up bringing more guitars to each show, so it seems that writing songs in different tunings could be my biggest musical flaw. If you were stuck on a deserted island and could take only one album, one book, and one film, what would you choose? For the album, Bob Dylan never feels outdated—spending years exploring his lyrics reveals a new interpretation every time. Therefore, I’d choose ‘The Times They Are A-Changin’.’ As for my book, I would likely select Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. I’ve never quite finished it, but it’s not because I’m bored; rather, his vivid descriptions are limitless—each line feels like a song. And perhaps it’s a guilty pleasure, but I really enjoy the original Point Break. Lastly, if DIY was coming over for dinner, what would you prepare? I’d probably let our bassist, Conor, take charge since he’s an excellent cook.
