Idlewild has released their new single, ‘It’s Not The First Time.’
The Scottish band is making a return with their self-titled album, their first since 2019, which is scheduled for release on October 3rd through V2 Records.
Produced and mixed by Rod Jones, their comeback single ‘Stay Out Of Place’ was a fantastic introduction, quickly resonating with their fans.
Now, the new single ‘It’s Not The First Time’ is available, showcasing a rich and glowing piece of songwriting that feels both expansive and modest. In some ways, it evokes the mastery evident in Idlewild’s ‘The Remote Part,’ with Roddy Woomble’s vocals being both poignant and empathetic.

Memory is like a fractured net, a leaking barrel. You live in a sequence of nows, and there’s an artistry to the seemingly obvious – all significant revelations are, at their core, obvious truths. After thirty years of touring, we’ve experienced our share of highs and lows. So, for every chilly and damp Tuesday night in Chemnitz, Germany, playing to a sparsely filled room of indifferent listeners, or a Thursday in Lawrence, Kansas, where just six fans show up after two months on the road – there are nights at the Glasgow Barrowlands with two thousand people singing along or the chance to headline in packed venues in Tokyo or New York. Traveling and meeting incredible people is a privilege. The key is to cherish each moment for what it reveals. That’s the essence the song aims to convey.
