The new album 'BLACK STAR' is set to release on August 8th.
On July 25, 2025, Ghanaian-American artist Amaarae has unveiled her latest single, ‘Girlie-Pop!’.
After previously releasing the single ‘S.M.O.’, Amaarae continues to build anticipation for the vibrant club experience promised in her upcoming album ‘BLACK STAR’, which will be available on August 8th through Interscope Records.
A rich fusion of Alté, African underground genres, and pop influences, Amaarae embraces themes of pleasure and freedom in her Jersey club-inspired tracks.
Amaarae expresses:
“’Girlie-Pop!’ originated as a freestyle over a guitar on a magical night in Brazil! I aspired to create a song that captures the feeling of a kiss from your special someone. We all fantasize about finding that individual who can elevate us to the stars with just a smile and a gentle kiss! The ‘BLACK STAR’ album revolves around joy and imagination! I envision ‘Girlie-Pop!’ as the perfect soundtrack for those moments when you daydream about your crush. The music video beautifully embodies that sentiment.”
The video, directed by Omar Jones, offers a glimpse into the euphoric beats that arise when two souls connect, using music as essential magic, both inside and outside the club.
To promote her album, Amaarae will perform at various festivals worldwide, including Lollapalooza, Maiden Voyage, Osheaga, Lowlands, and more.
