Kevin Abstract graces the cover of DIY’s July/August 2025 edition!

Let's be honest, 2025 has flown by, and it's hard to believe we're already in the thick of summer. We can say, though, that it has been excellent so far! Fresh from a memorable Glastonbury (and our last for two years, sigh), festival season is in full effect - and with a jam-packed release calendar for the next two months, we've decided to go all out and present you with a substantial double issue filled with some DIY favorites to help you get through until autumn. To celebrate, we are excited to feature Kevin Abstract on the cover, as he launches his latest solo project, ‘Blush’ - an album that brought the former BROCKHAMPTON member back to his Texas roots to re-ignite his creative spark. “I felt very betrayed, just like many friendship breakups during that time. I felt very lonely and down,” he shares in the cover story, reflecting on his choice to return to Houston after experiencing a tumultuous period. “My beard was longer than it is now—I looked like a madman. But once I got to Texas, I realized 'it’s not as bad as you think,' even though I was still struggling.” He continues: “I love Los Angeles, I want to die there, but I needed to find a place to create this album. Every time I'm facing a difficult moment in my life, I end up returning here to Texas; this has been the pattern throughout my career.” In our extensive July / August 2025 issue, we also explore Shame's significant fourth album, discuss plans with Black Honey’s Izzy B Phillips, catch up with visionary Indigo De Souza, and join Kae Tempest on his boldest venture yet. Additionally, we dive into the vibrant realm of art-pop with Jessica Winter, meet It-girl-in-waiting Alessi Rose, and find party-starters Panic Shack on the verge of their explosive debut. In this month’s Neu section—a go-to for the latest in new music—we delve into the unique sounds of Brighton quartet The New Eves, chat with future hardcore heroes Humour, and celebrate the debut full-length from Aussie group Folk Bitch Trio. We also provide the DIY review on some major new albums (we're looking at you, Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, CMAT) and give you insights into the summer’s biggest events, including Dua Lipa, Beyoncé, LIDO Festival, and more. So go ahead: click the button below to get your own printed copy of our July / August 2025 issue, order from our online shop, or check out the digital version below. Sit back, fan on - and enjoy!
