Sneak Peek: Green Man Festival 2025

Green Man – the largest festival for music, arts, and science in Wales – boasts a strong reputation. It sold out once again before the lineup was revealed, assuring attendees of a diverse selection of local folk performances, innovative indie rock pioneers, and some of the most unique DIY artists available. With just over a week until we return to Bannau Brycheiniog, here’s a guide to where to go and who to see during the weekend…

      —

Tristwch y Fenywod (Thursday /// The Walled Garden)

Merging elements of Cocteau Twins and Kim Gordon, the goth rock trio Tristwch y Fenywod embodies the haunting tales of Wales through experimental Welsh-language folk and darkwave electronica.

A Lesser Version (Friday /// Rising Stage)

As finalists in this year's Green Man Rising competition, A Lesser Version have been a crucial part of Liverpool’s DIY music scene for many years. Anticipate fragmented indie rock that comes together with an odd charm.

Pys Melyn (Friday /// The Walled Garden)

The wobbly North Walian "yellow peas" may represent one of Wales's finest outputs in the last decade. Their twisting and surreal interpretation of '60s/70s pop is nostalgic, humorous, and incredibly catchy.

@ (Friday /// The Walled Garden)

With heartfelt songwriting and '70s folk-pop tunes, Philadelphia’s @ will surely appeal to anyone who missed Big Thief last year!

Lots of Hands (Saturday /// Rising Stage)

Another finalist of this year's Green Man Rising, the Newcastle duo of Billy Woodhouse and Elliot Dryden excels in the emo-adjacent, DIY ambient/electronic blend reminiscent of Alex G.

Melin Melyn (Saturday /// Far Out Stage)

Melin Melyn can be considered sturdy pillars of the Green Man community. Having frequently performed in the beautiful Brecon mountains, this Welsh surf-rock band has certainly established a place for their whimsical psychedelia there.

English Teacher (Saturday /// Far Out Stage)

The art-rock favorites English Teacher first graced the Green Man stage in 2022 at the Rising stage. Just three years later, they are set to headline the festival’s second-largest stage after a whirlwind 18 months that saw their debut album win the Mercury Prize. This show will be particularly special: a commemoration of their rapid ascent.

TV On The Radio (Sunday /// Mountain Stage)

Only the finest from New York City’s noughties art-rock scene… yeah baby!
