Spotify has introduced a dedicated hub for the Notting Hill Carnival.
This August Bank Holiday will welcome the return of the Notting Hill Carnival to the streets of West London, complete with its annual float parade and soundsystems showcasing a variety of Black Caribbean and Black British music.
The music streaming service Spotify is set to partner with the renowned event for the sixth consecutive year.
The newly created Carnival Sounds hub unites incredible artists and introduces new material. Look forward to the most exciting summer playlists, capturing the essence of Caribbean music and more, bridging different generations.
Additionally, Spotify has teamed up with The Black Curriculum to curate a tailored selection of audiobooks and podcasts. This selection features Trevor and Mark Phillips’ audiobook, *Windrush: 75 Years of Modern Britain*, along with the highly praised podcast *Have You Heard George’s Podcast* from George the Poet.
Safiya Lambie-Knight, Head of Music, UK & Ireland at Spotify, stated: “We’ve been collaborating with Notting Hill Carnival for six years, and it’s always a privilege to celebrate the carnival’s influence and community. We’re delighted to host the Carnival Sounds hub as the premier destination for Caribbean music, heritage, and narratives. Working with an organization like The Black Curriculum, which promotes the preservation and teaching of Black stories in accessible and community-centered ways, is especially significant. Notting Hill Carnival is a powerful representation of Caribbean identity, and it’s gratifying to support and amplify these voices before the Carnival weekend.”
Matthew Phillip, CEO of Notting Hill Carnival, remarked: “For six years, Spotify has been a true cultural partner of Notting Hill Carnival, helping us to share the sound and spirit of Carnival with audiences well beyond London. As we move toward 2025, we’re proud to continue amplifying the voices and stories that empower our communities.”
