After weeks of teasing a distinctly tropical-themed release on their social media, the electro-pop favorites Glass Animals have now released their new single ‘Vampire Bat’—a catchy and groovy tune that imparts the timeless insight “kiwi is a cross between a strawberry and a lime.” The track arrives during a busy festival summer for the Oxford band, which includes performances at events like Madrid’s Mad Cool weekend. It also notably coincides with the five-year anniversary of their album ‘Dreamland,’ released in 2020, which produced the viral hit ‘Heatwaves.’ To celebrate the occasion, Glass Animals took to Instagram, stating: “5 years old TODAY. unbelievable. thank you all for embracing this album and changing our lives.” ‘Vampire Bat’ marks the group’s first new music since last year’s LP ‘I Love You So Fucking Much,’ which featured Glass Animals on the cover of our June 2024 issue.
