Some habits are challenging to break, and others are simply too good to abandon. For Gina Zo, this struggle expresses itself as a fantasy about a dream lover, someone she cannot – and will not – release, even if they only reside in her imagination. Born in Philadelphia and now in LA, Zo’s debut solo single "Dirty Habits" encapsulates that yearning in a lush, late-night daydream that is as relatable as it is intoxicating. It's a track that quickens your pulse while bringing a smile to your face – a dreamy and dramatic indie pop offering that is both catchy and deeply personal.

With vibrant synthesizers, soulful vocals, and a chorus that rises like heat from pavement, “Dirty Habits” is a scorching seduction infused with light, life, love, and desire – a truly enchanted introduction to the unique artist that is Gina Zo.

“I woke up in a sweat, dreams are dripping wet, haven’t met him yet, but I plan on it. A hero in my mind, settled for what’s mine, which is nothing at all, no man breaking down these walls.”

Produced by Grammy winners Justin Miller (Jazmine Sullivan, Zach Bryan) and Tim Sonnefeld (Usher) and launched in late May, “Dirty Habits” reflects the tension between fantasy and reality, capturing the thrill of infatuation alongside the pain of longing. "The phone rings, I let ‘em have it, I can’t breathe, it’s a dirty habit,” Zo sings, her voice rising in urgency while a pulsing rhythm supports her. The song is a confession shrouded in illusion, a vivid daydream woven from silk sheets and sleepless nights.

“‘Dirty Habits’ is all about the tension between your dreams and reality,” Zo tells Atwood Magazine. “It captures the excitement of pursuing something that may never quite exist – all delivered with a sexy grin and an irresistible beat. The music video mixes the conventional pillow party male fantasy with my favorite nighttime activity: dancing with friends.”

For Zo, the concept of the track came organically and personally. “This was among the first songs I wrote when I decided to go solo,” she notes. “The song highlights how our dreams often surpass our reality, particularly regarding our ideal partner—who can feel like a rare find in real life. It’s a regular conversation with my friends; many of us are single in LA, which has too many choices for its own good.”

“Please don’t call. Don’t wake me up from this dream. It’s a true tear, a nightmare. Keep me fast asleep. Don’t you dare open up my eyes. Let me feed my mind. I don’t want to see the light.”

That mix of empowerment and vulnerability is the hallmark of Gina Zo. As a former contestant on The Voice and the lead singer for rock band Velvet Rouge, she now steps into the spotlight on her own terms – boldly bisexual, unapologetically feminine, and fiercely self-assured. Her lyrics balance sultriness and sweetness, underscored by a knowing wink. “I’ve made up my mind, a true love’s golden stitch. Pucker up your lips ‘cause I’m worth the risk.”

This move toward authentic self-expression was hard-won. “Rock music is what I grew up on, especially artists like Stevie Nicks and Florence Welch,” she reflects on her time with Velvet Rouge. “I loved the energy of performing on stage. However, I recognized I had to maintain a tough exterior, which contradicted who I am. Now, I feel like I can truly be myself. I want to be a kind, loving songwriter. Stepping away from the band was the toughest yet most crucial decision of my career.”

It’s the tension between desire and illusion that makes “Dirty Habits” so compelling – a dream you’re reluctant to wake from, despite knowing it isn't real. Zo embraces the contradiction, blurring the lines between dreaming and denial, control and longing. The chorus provides a release – a moment where emotions pour out in a whirlwind of breathless, compulsive honesty:

"The phone rings, I let 'em have it, I can’t breathe, it’s a dirty habit. My hands shake ‘cause I wish I had it, the one now, the one now. The phone rings, I let 'em have it, the bed creaks, it’s a dirty habit. My brain bleeds ‘cause I
