BLACKPINK Makes History at Wembley Stadium in London

Following the chart-topping success of Netflix's Kpop Demon Hunters, stadium performances by Stray Kids, and the significant SMTown celebration at the O2 Arena, this summer has truly been a K-pop extravaganza in London.

The season culminates with an unforgettable highlight as K-pop superstars BLACKPINK take the stage for two nights at Wembley Stadium.

As fans made the short journey from Wembley Park station, an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation filled the air, with many lining the streets adorned in merchandise and memorabilia, ready to witness a historic moment as BLACKPINK became the first K-pop girl group to headline the esteemed Wembley Stadium.

The group—comprised of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—has played a substantial role in the worldwide rise of K-pop, captivating Western audiences with their vibrant personalities and hit songs like "Shut Down" and "How You Like That."

Before embarking on their world tour with a new single, the members took time apart from BLACKPINK duties to pursue their solo careers. This strategic move proved successful, as each member has gained individual recognition with celebrated solo albums and acting endeavors, amplifying the excitement surrounding their comeback.

Two years after their previous London show at BST Hyde Park, fans' wait finally came to an end as BLACKPINK stepped on stage. The anticipation quickly transformed into exhilaration as the four members launched into energetic performances of "Kill This Love," "Pink Venom," "How You Like That," and "Shut Down."

The opening segment instantly reminded the audience of BLACKPINK's impressive catalog of hits that propelled K-pop into the mainstream.

After this electrifying start, the members showcased their solo hits, beginning with Jisoo, who performed "earthquake"—nominated for a 'VMA for Best K-pop' at the upcoming awards—and a shortened version of "Your Love."

Next, Lisa took the spotlight, delivering performances of "Thunder," "Lifestyle," and "Rockstar," showcasing her distinct aesthetic and style. It would have been great to hear her perform "MONEY," allowing the audience to fully appreciate the line about "listening to her money talk."

Jennie showcased her signature style during her solo set, particularly in "Like Jennie," where her confident stage presence shone through.

A standout moment in the solo acts was Rosé's rendition of "APT," her collaboration with Bruno Mars, which reached number one in over 50 countries and amassed over 1.9 billion streams on Spotify alone. Its vibrant energy made it an ultimate feel-good anthem.

BLACKPINK recently released their first single in over three years, "JUMP," a perfect track for their comeback amidst their ongoing world tour. The bass-driven song quickly emerged as a fan favorite, transforming Wembley Stadium into an intimate nightclub atmosphere, with pulsating speakers and dazzling strobe lights.

The group maintained the celebratory vibe to conclude the main portion of their performance with "BOOMBAYAH," "DDU-DU DDU-DU," and "As If It’s Your Last." They also performed "Forever Young," creating a memorable moment in Wembley Stadium where the crowd felt united, rejoicing together in high spirits.

As the thrilling set wrapped up in the encore with "JUMP" and "Kick It," fireworks illuminated the night sky, accompanied by 70,000 voices singing and dancing, many waving their lightsticks rhythmically. It was a magical conclusion to a landmark performance, solidifying BLACKPINK's place as one of the most exhilarating K-pop acts in the genre's history.

With confirmed plans for a mini-album set to drop later this year, BLACKPINK's popularity shows no signs of fading as they continue to elevate K-pop to new heights around the world.
