Joyce Manor has released a new single titled ‘All My Friends Are So Depressed’.

This marks their first new material in three years and comes just before the band arrives in the UK for a headline tour in October.

The new single ‘All My Friends Are So Depressed’ is now available, ending three years of silence from the band. The track combines vibrant indie rock elements with captivating studio effects and a touch of irony, transitioning from Johnny Marr's shimmering guitars to the jarring electronics of 100 gecs.

“The first line I thought of for this song was ‘lord above in a Tecate truck,’ inspired by seeing a Tecate delivery truck covered in Jesus imagery on the freeway while returning to Long Beach after a show in Fresno,” vocalists/guitarist Barry Johnson shares.

“As I was looking for a line that rhymed with ‘lord above in a Tecate truck’, I came up with ‘why even exist? Who gives a fuck!?’ and thus the idea for ‘All My Friends Are So Depressed’ was born. It’s sort of my interpretation of what I imagine Lana Del Rey’s lyrics would be like. Instead of the cold, detached vibe of 50’s Americana, it’s all about grimy shag carpets, bong hits, Peter Frampton Comes Alive, key lime pie, and suicidal thoughts. My flow was heavily inspired by 100 gecs, a band I was really into in 2023 (Much respect to Dylan and Laura, we would love to tour with you). Musically, we drew influence from The Libertines, Tiger Army, X, and The Smiths… obviously.”
