Just days before their upcoming performances in London, The Cribs have revealed information about their eighth studio album, cleverly titled ‘Selling A Vibe’. The Jarman brothers will launch their new album more than five years after their last full-length release, 2020’s ‘Night Network’, with ‘Selling A Vibe’ scheduled to be released on 9th January 2026. This twelve-track album was crafted after the band chose to spend a summer together with “no music, no writing, just reconnection.” It was produced by Patrick Wimberly, known for his work with Chairlift and Caroline Polachek, and mixed by Lars Stalfors (St Vincent / The Mars Volta). Gary Jarman of the band commented on the album saying, “As time has passed, our albums have grown more open, and the tracks on ‘Selling A Vibe’ feel very personal. Releasing them can be nerve-wracking because they mean a lot to us. I know that might come off as overly romantic or idealistic, but ultimately, it’s the only thing that matters in the end - did we connect with people? We don’t want this to be labeled strictly as an 'indie rock' record or a 'punk' record; those categories that used to hold significance for us don’t matter as much. Our hope is that people enjoy and resonate with the songs and lyrics as they are. We aim for them to be accessible to everyone. Therefore, you could argue that this is our most ambitious album since we have fully committed to that ideal. In essence, we genuinely hope you enjoy it.”
In addition to the album announcement, the trio has released its lead single, ‘Summer Seizures’, and has unveiled plans for a UK headline tour in 2026. Ryan Jarman shared the inspiration behind the track, saying, "One morning, while in my kitchen in NYC, I could sense that summer was beginning. I had the best summer of my life here but also faced what was undoubtedly the hardest summer a few years later. So feeling it return was a way to reflect on time and my current state, trying to piece everything together. It’s a song about love, tragedy, and learning to accept oneself, all set against the backdrop of summertime in NYC."
