The tag-team duo pens a love letter to the UK's acid scene, Ibiza escapes, and Nick Love's 2005 film, The Business.
Wavey Garms is infusing a South London vibe into the Balearic Islands by collaborating with Sergio Tacchini for their Summer Of Love Collection.
Initially launched in 2013 as a Facebook group for trading vintage streetwear, Wavey Garms has spent the last ten years positioning itself as a cultural hub at the crossroads of fashion, raving, and youth culture. Founded by Andrés Branco, the brand has evolved into a nostalgia-driven tastemaker, creating its own archive-inspired zine, producing a monthly radio show on Kool, and launching its house music label, Area Records.
Currently, Wavey Garms is revisiting its roots, shifting focus towards nightlife inspired by the 80s. Drawing from Sergio Tacchini’s Italian background, the collection pays homage to the UK’s acid movement, David Swindells’ Ibiza ’89, and Nick Love’s 2005 film, The Business. Expect pastel colors, nautical stripes, pristine sportswear, and textured velour, featured in a range of graphic t-shirts, sweatshirts, bomber jackets, and caps.
This marks a full-circle moment for Wavey Garms and Sergio Tacchini, presented through a short film featuring Jaime Winston from Kidulthood. To commemorate Summer of Love, the team serves cocktails poolside, maintaining a glamorous, extravagant, and relaxed atmosphere with must-have collection items.
Discussing the collaboration, Branco expresses: “Sergio Tacchini has always been one of my all-time favorite brands. I’m glad I waited 13 years after launching Wavey Garms to do a full clothing collaboration, rather than rushing into something that didn’t feel right. I received many offers over the years, but waiting for a dream partnership where I could express my creativity freely was worth it.”
He adds: “The main inspiration behind the collection was rave culture, which has always been central to my work. I love the intersection of music and fashion. However, I grew tired of referencing the 90s and 2000s; it’s been overdone, especially by me, haha. Everything changed when my girlfriend gifted me Ibiza ’89 by David Swindells. The book amazed me. I had never seen people looking so stylish while raving. The color schemes, the nautical stripes, the energy – it all resonated. It felt both fresh and nostalgic.”
