Every exhale seems like a promise: a commitment to family, to love, to community, and to the delicate yet vital connections that lend significance to our lives. This reflects both our innate desires and lofty aspirations – the yearn to belong, to protect, to be remembered not just for accomplishments, but for love and devotion. In their repetition, Fogale’s phrases acquire a ritualistic quality, anchoring both him and his audience in timeless truths that surpass any individual life or moment.
“For honour, for family, for shelter, for unity.” This refrain serves as the heartbeat of Luca Fogale’s stunning new single “For,” a mesmerizing indie folk offering that is as heartfelt as it is intimate – a song that pulsates with humanity while seeking something deeper than the individual self. Gentle, exposed, and profoundly sincere, it encapsulates the struggle between ambition and surrender, between the inexorable flow of time and our desire to uphold what we cherish.
For – Luca Fogale
Where, now
Does our story fade?
Held out into the grey
Roll time beyond the edge
Our hope for what’s unsaid
Atwood Magazine is thrilled to premiere “For,” the astonishing new single from Vancouver singer/songwriter Luca Fogale. Released on August 29, 2025, through Nettwerk Music Group, “For” follows this year’s earlier singles “Begin,” “Ashes,” and “Lost Without You,” providing another glimpse into Fogale’s upcoming album (details to come soon). The JUNO-nominated artist, known for his warm, soul-stirring voice and unvarnished vulnerability, continues to broaden his artistic reach with this track, which evolves from gentle acoustic beginnings into a rich, layered indie folk reverie of purpose and devotion.
“I created ‘For’ while experiencing various seasons of my life,” Fogale explains to Atwood Magazine. “So, while it primarily reflects trying to honor what is essential in life, the narrator—a version of myself—is navigating the understanding of time's limitations, while longing to preserve an envisioned perfect future, driven by the principles expressed in the refrain; those he considers most important. 'For honour. For family.'”
“This version of myself endeavors to be tireless, determined, unbreakable, unaware that failure is inevitable, as he is merely human. I recognize a yearning within me to strive, to achieve, to provide, and I also see how hard I fall when I lose sight of humility and self-acceptance. The narrator races against time and vulnerability.”

The interplay of mortality, humility, and hope runs through every line of “For.”
Fogale’s soft, ethereal, aching yet raw voice gently rests over the acoustic guitar in the song's opening verse, laying the groundwork for a reflection on what we value, what we fight for, and what ultimately must be relinquished:
For honour
For family
For shelter
For unity
For laughter
For levity
For purpose
For eternity
As the song progresses, additional instrumentation flourishes around him, echoing his growing passion. Delicate textures and swelling sounds build on his confessions, creating an utterly captivating listening experience. It’s a track that takes the listener from stillness into a gentle tempest, filled with devotion and vulnerability.
Move slowly
Through shifting days
And keep your love from fading
The earth calls our bodies back
So, hold on for all that lasts
For all that lasts
For honour, for family
For shelter, for unity
For laughter, for levity
For purpose, for eternity
“If all is cherished, then no love is lost,” he later sings, encapsulating the essence of the song in one of its most impactful lines – a reminder that the love we hold and the moments we treasure are never truly gone.
So I’ll hold my head high
Let the hurt fall
Stay grounded
Where the darkness beckons
Move forward
Every moment
If all is cherished, then
No love is lost
