Heartworms Reveals Glutton For Punishment (The Poetry Edition)

      South London artist Heartworms has unveiled a deluxe edition titled ‘The Poetry Edition’ of her well-received debut album ‘Glutton For Punishment’. Set for release on September 19th through Speedy Wunderground, this edition comes with a captivating new video for the standout track ‘Celebrate’.

      The video for ‘Celebrate’, choreographed by Liv Lockwood (who has worked with Gucci, The 1975, Wet Leg, and Aurora), introduces movement and physical expression into the Heartworms project for the first time, enhancing Jojo Orme’s immersive vision with added intensity. “It felt both organic and cathartic during the process,” Lockwood remarks. “We had been developing movement for her live performances for months, so making a video together seemed like a natural next step.”

      Produced in collaboration with longtime partner Dan Carey, ‘The Poetry Edition’ features reimagined versions, remixes, and the spoken word piece ‘Beat Poem’, which was initially crafted during Orme’s live shows. “Before we even entered the studio to record this album, I put together a handmade poetry book for Dan Carey with the lyrics,” Heartworms shares. “These stripped-down versions pay tribute to those early creative moments. ‘Beat Poem’ gained immense power in my live performances, and bringing it back into Dan’s studio transformed it into something that compels you to listen and seizes you by the collar.”

      ‘Glutton For Punishment’ positioned Heartworms as a bold new voice, merging the driving intensity of Depeche Mode with PJ Harvey’s incisive lyrics and LCD Soundsystem’s unpredictable rhythms. With ‘The Poetry Edition’, Orme continues to broaden the project’s horizons, uncovering a raw and poetic quality beneath the fierceness.

      In addition to this new release, Heartworms has announced two UK headline shows later this year: one at Manchester’s Band On The Wall on December 7th and another at London’s Scala on December 8th, following a summer filled with notable festival performances at Glastonbury, Green Man, and Reading & Leeds.
