Roger Waters has sparked significant outrage with his recent remarks about Ozzy Osbourne.
The former Pink Floyd member is known for expressing strong opinions, which have previously landed him in controversy. Now, he has targeted the late Ozzy Osbourne, upsetting the family of the former Black Sabbath frontman.
Just weeks after Ozzy Osbourne's passing, Roger Waters dismissed his contributions in a recent interview, labeling them as “idiocy and nonsense.”
During a video interview on Independent Ink, he implied that Ozzy Osbourne was part of a psychological operation aimed at undermining alternative culture and rock music.
“How can we dismiss this? I know how to do it! We can do it with Taylor Swift or bubble gum or Kim Kardashian’s backside.
“… Or Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him, in whatever state he was in throughout his life, we’ll never know. He was on TV for hundreds of years with his idiocy and nonsense."
Waters further criticized Ozzy Osbourne’s entire body of work and the Black Sabbath catalog.
“The music? I have no clue, I couldn’t care less. I’m not interested in Black Sabbath; I never was. I have no interest in… ‘Wahhhh!!!’ and biting the heads off chickens or whatever they do. It means nothing to me.”
When corrected that it was actually a bat that Ozzy (accidentally) bit the head off, he reacted, “Oh my God, that’s even worse, isn’t it? I don’t know, is it worse to bite the head off a bat or a chicken?”
His comments quickly went viral, leading to backlash from fans as well as Ozzy’s family.
Jack Osbourne was quick to respond, calling Waters a “c*nt,” “pathetic,” and “out of touch.”
He posted on social media: “Hey Roger Waters – fuck you. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by spewing nonsense in the press. My father always thought you were a cunt – thanks for proving him right.”
